Welcome to Reception!

It is a happy place where children are given opportunities to try new things in a safe and positive environment. A culture of learning through play is promoted and valued. We are a nurturing Reception Staff demonstrating high levels of sensitivity. We look forward to getting to know your child. Every child at St Edmunds and St Thomas’ is recognised as a unique individual and we celebrate the differences within our school community.

We have high expectations for our Reception children. They mark remarkable progress in their reading and maths. Most importantly children are confident and happy learners

We work closely with our parents, previous nurseries and childminders as well as KS1 staff to ensure our transitions are as smooth as possible for all involved.

The learning environment is bright, well organised and reflects the children’s interests.
